Punch Drunk

Boxing at its very core is a sport centered around an act of organized violence, a civilized outlet of aggression based on strict rules. Historically boxing has been linked to ideas of traditional and toxic masculinity and while a lot of change has taken place in the world of Boxing it can still continue to perpetuate these ideas.

Yet in stark contrast to the spectacle of blood on the canvas and parading ring girls is the Boxing Gym. A Boxing Gym provides a place of sanctuary and security. It not only is a place to train and become disciplined but also fosters a place of community.

Punch Drunk is an exploration of how a place that has such a positive influence on its member's lives can be centered on this inherently violent sport.
